Ishita Srivastava spent the first twenty years of her life in India, and after completing a Bachelors degree in English Literature, moved to London to pursue a second Bachelors program, in Media and Communications. She recently completed her Masters degree in Cinema Studies and documentary production at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and has finally relinquished her title of ‘professional student’ in order to pursue a career in media advocacy. She is passionate about making documentaries and employing visual media in innovative ways that further the goals of human rights awareness and development. On a theoretical note, she is interested in the changing modes of spectatorship and the representation of minorities in Indian cinema. She dreams about being able to combine her interest in film curation and media theory with her zeal for documentary production and social justice. She calls New Delhi and New York City "home", and hopes she can keep it that way.
